Happy Monday, friendZ! This weekend came. It saw. It conquered. But, as it tends to do, Monday showed up again this morning, and ZlataPR is back open for biZness. More writing and consults going down, and then here on Substack, I’ve got ABZs coming your way later in the week. I’ve also been getting scores of new pitches for my latest assignments — THANK YOU! — and it’s inspiring me to put together a new Pitch Bitch, so look for that soon too. Last night was the 28th annual Critics Choice Awards, which are ranked 11th in the power rankings of award shows and affectionately called the Golden Globes wannabe by this L.A. Times article. Everything Everywhere All at Once won Best Picture, Brendan Fraser won Best Actor for The Whale, Cate Blanchett took Best Actress for Tár, and Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio won Best Animated Feature.
No, that’s not alien spacecraft your Florida friends are posting all over social media. It was SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy shuttle, which took to the skies last night in a successful launch. Thanks for sharing from Boca, Kathleen. Your holiday-light bedazzled palms and red tile roof really brought the sky to life.
In a new segment I’m titling “Did We Need a Study for This?” we have learned Gen Z spends more time enjoying content on other devices than they do watching TV. In Hub’s annual Video Redefined study, researchers learned that users ages 13 to 24 dedicate just 8% of their screen time to traditional cable TV.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend welcomed their third child to the world on Friday. They’ve not yet shared Baby’s name, but with my luck, they will within an hour publishing this newsletter.
