🎶 Dumb ways to diiiie 🎶 An experimental submarine carrying a Gilligan’s Island gaggle of billionaires and 1 kooky inventor went into the Atlantic on Sunday morning in an unregulated expedition to observe the wreckage of the Titanic. Unfortunately for the motley crew, the submersible lost comms with the surface less than 2 hours after departure. On Tuesday, officials detected underwater noises in the search area they thought might be from the vessel.
In news that should not be surprising if you spent more than 5 minutes on the dopamine slot machine that is TikTok, the platform became the first mobile app to surpass $1 billion in consumer spending in a single quarter, due largely to its unique coin-based business model.
In concert sign news, Kourtney Kardash is pregnant. The reality starlet revealed the news at a recent Blink 182, donning a sign that simply read “Travis, I’m pregnant.” A+ announcement.
So long, Sajak! Pat Sajak announced that he is retiring from his hosting duties at Wheel of Fortune following the upcoming 41st season. Ryan Seacrest is reportedly in talks to replace him. Like the consummate professional he is, Pat says he’s staying on as a consultant for at least 3 years after his exit.
And news for those of us who stay up past 9 pm, Stephen Colbert will host three more years of CBS’ The Late Show. His new contract runs through 2026.
Netflix won the rights to a new story originally published in Esquire magazine titled Daddy Ball. The article is focused on a dad-on-dad rivalry and will be a limited series starring and directed by everyone’s favorite dad (or daddy depending on who you ask), Jason Bateman.
Next year’s People’s Choice Awards will air on NBC for the first time (plus NBC’s streaming babes, Peacock and E!). The 2024 ceremony is set for Sunday, February 18 at 8p.
ID’s hit docuseries The Curious Case of Natalia Grace saw 10.3 million viewers. The series follows the story of a couple who adopt Natalia Grace, assumed to be a 6-year-old Ukrainian orphan. Only her adoptive parents alleged Natalia was an adult who was masquerading as a child with intent to harm the family.
We just can’t get enough psychotic stories about terrifying things. Lifetime reconnects with Elizabeth Smart who will executive produce Abducted by My Teacher: The Elizabeth Thomas Story. Premieres Saturday, August 12 at 8p. It’s so weird that we all have anxiety, right?
Susan Lucci and Maury Povich will receive lifetime achievement awards at the 50th Daytime Emmy Awards for their roles in bringing so much unnecessary beloved drama to our televisions, a role we have since re-assigned to Andy Cohen.
