On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, United States, and Canada. (The next one will be in 2044!) A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk. This natural phenomena, causing mass panic. Schools announced closures, my local YMCA is also closing, and apparently, our pets heads are also falling off.
Granted, you could damage your retinas on eclipse day if you don’t have proper eye protection. Even observing the eclipse through camera lenses, binoculars and telescopes without a specialized solar filter could instantly cause severe eye injury, so DON’T DO IT! Cut to: people do it anyway so they can post on social media. Yay people!
