HelloZ
Happy Friday, friendZ! Hope you’re doing great. The weather here in Jersey is PERFECTION and I’m not taking it for granted. I love everything about fall (ahem, except for pumpkin spiced things). The crisp clean air, the fall foliage, the feeling of being cozy wozy under a blanket with a good book even though we don’t have time to lay and ready books although doesn’t that sound nice?! ;)
Announcement: Super excited to tell you that I’m writing for Yahoo! and I have a few calls for pitches below. Get your pitching fingers ready!
Below I’ve got NewZ and ShowZ gems for you and an affiliate lesson on how to POWER your affiliate program! Let’s do this!
NewZ and ShowZ
ABC has tweaked its Monday and Wednesday schedules. The network added six more simulcasts of ESPN’s “Monday Night Football,” (go sports!!) displacing previously announced “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune,” “Press Your Luck” and “What Would You Do?”. The game shows will debut in 2025, while “What Would You Do?” moves to Wednesdays, taking the slot held by “Scamanda,” which will wait for midseason.
I guess we’re still doing award shows, huh? The 30th annual Critics Choice Awards will air live on E! on Sunday, January 12 at 7pm, following a one hour red carpet pre-show. Chelsea Handler is returning as host for the third consecutive year.
Here’s one you should all read…and then read again: TikTok’s own research shows that the app is harmful to the mental health of teenagers, according to Kentucky Public Radio, which was able to access some redacted material in a lawsuit filed by over a dozen US attorneys general. The text underneath the digital redaction appears to quote and summarize findings from internal TikTok documents and communications in which TikTok employees seem to acknowledge that their goal with safeguards like screen time nudges were meant to have limited effect on actual screen time. Kentucky joined the lawsuit last week, with AG Russell Coleman stating, “TikTok was specifically designed to be an addiction machine, targeting children who are still in the process of developing appropriate self-control. It doesn’t take much for our kids to fall headfirst into a digital world of unrealistic beauty standards, bullying and low self-esteem.”
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da: “Beatles ‘64” drops Friday, November 29 on Disney+. The Martin Scorsese film features never-before-seen footage of the band, including rare footage filmed by documentarians Albert and David Maysles and restored in 4K.
Megan Thee Stallion announced a feature length documentary, “In Her Words,” set to drop on Prime Video on Thursday, October 31. “I’m nervous and excited for yall to see it butttt it’s finally here,” the “Her” singer posted on Instagram. Not to be a complete asshole, but who actually cares? Did she live some interesting life? There are 100 other people I’d prefer to see a documentary on.
The Federal Trade Commission announced a final “click to cancel” rule that will require sellers to make it as easy for consumers to cancel their enrollment – or subscription to a streaming or cable service – as it was to sign up. Does anyone else feel distrust in this given that when we hit that ‘Unsubscribe’ button, we are still subscribed? I don’t know how much faith I have in this new 'click to cancel’ but we shall see.
