HelloZ
I know many of us are glued to our phones and the news, watching as the devastating fires wreak havoc on many parts of Los Angeles and threatening others. The loss of lives, homes, and cherished communities is unbearable. According to The Cut, the Pacific Palisades fire alone has scorched over 17,000 acres, destroyed more than 1,000 buildings, and forced the evacuation of approximately 130,000 residents. This is our country. This is our community. This is our chance to help.
Here’s a list of active fundraisers:
Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation - seeking monetary donations to equip firefighters battling the wildfires with items including emergency fire shelters, hydration backpacks and wildland brush tools.
California Fire Foundation - helps support victims of wildfires in California, It also provides support for firefighters battling the wildfires and for the families of fallen firefighters.
Salvation Army - provides grants to those displaced by fires and financial assistance for immediate and long-term needs of fire victims.
Wildfire Recovery Fund - helps with the intermediate and long-term impacts of wildfires, helping communities recover after attention has shifted away from the disasters.
Baby2Baby - Providing critical items, including diapers, food, formula and hygiene products for children and families who have lost their homes to the fires.
Bethenny Frankel’s BStrong - 100% of donations go directly to helping individuals in disaster affected areas with no administrative or overhead expenses withdrawn.
Please comment with any additional ones so people have options. Prayers to all of our industry colleagues and friends, as well as their loved ones. My heart aches!

NewZ & ShowZ
Nominees for the 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced Wednesday. “Shogun” topped list with five nods, followed by four for “The Bear” and three for “The Diplomat.” The ceremony is set for Sunday, February 23 at 8p on Netflix. The nominee news was shared via press release, after an in-person event in LA was one of numerous cancellations due to the horrific wildfires sweeping across the area.
Two weeks before Donald Trump checks back into the White House, Meta is taking a page from X and changing its content review policies on Facebook, Threads and Instagram. Replacing fact checkers will be user-generated “community notes.” “Fact checkers have been too politically biased and have destroyed more trust than they’ve created,” said Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a video. “What started as a movement to be more inclusive has increasingly been used to shut down opinions and shut out people with different ideas, and it’s gone too far.” At a news conference at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday, Trump said the change was “probably” due to threats he has made against the company.
Three episodes each of FX’s “Shogun,” HBO’s “True Detective” and Netflix’s “The Diplomat” were nominated in the drama series category for DGA Awards. The comedy bucket includes Max’s “Hacks,” HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and three episodes of FX’s “The Bear.” HBO’s “The Penguin” nabbed three nods in the limited series/movies categories, along with one each for Apple TV+’s “Disclaimer” and Netflix’s “Ripley.” The ceremony takes place Saturday, February 8.
Season two of HBO’s “The Last of Us” launches in April. Co-creator, writer, and executive producer Neil Druckmann made the announcement at CES.
“An Update on Our Family” debuts Wednesday, January 15 at 9p on HBO. The three-part docuseries explores the complex world of family vlogging. Amazing! Now we have a TV show about creating “TV shows” instead of living in the moment with your family. Yay technology!!
I don’t watch this show, but season three of Bravo’s “Below Deck Down Under” sets sail Monday, February 3 at 8p. Capt. Jason Chambers, Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph and Deckhand Harry Van Vliet will return, along with a group of new crew members.
Jesse Eisenberg film “A Real Pain” makes its streaming debut Thursday, January 16 on Hulu. Kieran Culkin just picked up a Golden Globe trophy for his performance in the movie.
“Taking Care,” a documentary capturing the journey of Lauren Miller Rogen and Seth Rogen as they navigate the challenges of Lauren's mother’s early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, debuts exclusively on FUSE and FUSE+ beginning January 13 at 9pm.
Guy Fieri, his wife and his sons take to the seas on the Carnival Mardi Gras in “Guy’s Ultimate Family Cruise,” in a special airing Friday, January 31 at 9p on Food Network. Why? Who cares?!
That’s all for today!
